Neosynapse is seeking a senior Oracle database administrator who will supervise the design, implementation and maintenance of an Oracle 10g RAC system to be used as a major data warehouse . The candidate will work closely with personnel to understand the business requirements for the system and design the database accordingly. The candidate will work closely with a Neosynapse senior database engineer, who will be responsible for the implementation of the data warehouse on the platform that is prepared by the candidate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Design and implement an Oracle 10g RAC database which will host a Comcast data warehouse.
* Work with the senior database engineer to study and resolve problems in the implementation of the data warehouse.
* Design and work with Comcast personnel to implement a disk layout strategy for the data warehouse. The disk layout strategy will include all plans for optimization of disk performance to support loading requirements.
* Define and implement a compression and retention strategy based on requirements delivered from the senior database engineer.
* Oversee and maintain the database on a day-to-day basis.
* Maintain and supervise the use of all Oracle systems used for the data warehouse, including development, QA and production.
* Create and maintain documentation for the building, maintenance and operation of all systems.
* Other functionality as required.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS

* Minimum 5 years experience with Oracle data warehouses, preferably data warehouses in excess of several TB, including:
* Experience designing, implementing and operating Oracle 10g RAC data warehouses
* Experience troubleshooting Oracle issues related to RAC and data warehouse technology * Experience with performance tuning of data warehouse related SQL rollups, cubes, grouping and aggregations
* Experience tuning star queries
* Experience with materialized views and query rewrites
* Experience implementing ASM on Linux, including using ASMLib
* Good UNIX skills
* Background in a consultative and contract environment preferred.
* Experience working in small teams in a fast-paced environment.
* Undergraduate degree in a computer-related field or equivalent experience.
* Experience with complex SQL for data extraction.
* Ability to write technical and business documentation. A short writing sample should be included in your application.
* Experience with source code control systems, in particular Subversion.
